# Prototype an app idea with your team

The quickest way to prototype an app idea with a cofounder or small team is to agree on what a person should be able to try, build a clickable version the same day, and react to it together. In AppSprint, Team Vibe Coding gives the group one shared AI-built prototype in about an hour: the decision-maker prompts the AI while teammates send anonymous suggestions. If you want competing versions first, use the One-Hour Sprint.

## Why prototyping as a group is harder than alone

AI app builders are made for one person at a keyboard. When a team uses one, somebody shares a screen, everyone else watches, and feedback arrives later in a chat thread. The prototype reflects one person's view, and the team finds out it disagrees after the work is done.

## How to do it well

- **Describe what people should be able to try,** not a feature list.
- **Keep it to one flow.** A prototype that does one thing clearly teaches more than ten empty screens.
- **Decide who holds the keyboard.** One person makes changes; everyone else proposes them in writing.
- **Keep versions** so a bad change costs nothing.
- **Stop when it is good enough to show someone.** A prototype is a question, not a product.

## How it works in AppSprint

1. **Choose the format** Pick [Team Vibe Coding](https://appsprint.team/templates/team-vibe-coding) when the team already knows what to build: you name the project, then spend 45 minutes in Build together, starting from a blank shared builder. Pick the [One-Hour Sprint](https://appsprint.team/templates/one-hour-sprint) when each person should build a version first and the team then chooses.
2. **Invite the team** The host shares a link and teammates join as guests without an account. The [video call](https://appsprint.team/features/video-calls-and-transcripts) is in the same window.
3. **Pick what to make** The [AI builder](https://appsprint.team/features/build-prototypes-with-ai) has three modes: Web App, Web Game and Design. You can attach up to three images and five files.
4. **Build together** The decision-maker prompts the AI. Teammates follow that view or explore on their own, and send anonymous written suggestions, optionally with a snapshot of the area they mean. The decision-maker can run an advisory vote, then apply the change. See [Refine Together](https://appsprint.team/features/refine-together).
5. **Keep what works** The 20 most recent versions are kept and the decision-maker can restore one. Download the prototype as a ZIP or a standalone HTML file.

## What you leave with

- A working prototype as a single runnable HTML file
- A session summary, with a link that anyone can open without signing in

## When AppSprint is the wrong tool

The prototypes are single-file HTML with no backend, no real APIs and no frameworks, so they are for showing and testing an idea, not for shipping it. If you need a deployed app with accounts and a database, use an AI app builder made for that; see [AppSprint vs Lovable](https://appsprint.team/compare/appsprint-vs-lovable).

Only one person prompts the shared builder. If you work alone, or each of you wants a long separate build session, the room adds little.

## Questions and answers

**How do I prototype an app idea with my cofounder quickly?**

Write down the one thing a user should be able to do, then build it in a single sitting. In AppSprint, open [Team Vibe Coding](https://appsprint.team/templates/team-vibe-coding), share the link, and let one of you prompt the AI while the other sends suggestions.

**Can everyone prompt the AI at the same time?**

No. In the shared builder only the decision-maker prompts the AI, with the host as fallback. Teammates submit anonymous suggestions, up to 10 each. In the One-Hour Sprint each person gets their own build step before the team picks a winner.

**Which AI models build the prototype?**

The decision-maker chooses from OpenAI, Claude and Gemini models and a quality level of Fast, Balanced or Best. Higher settings use more credits per build.

**What does it cost?**

Rooms are free with unlimited teammates. AI builds use credits paid by the host, and new accounts get 5,000 trial credits with no card. See [pricing](https://appsprint.team/pricing).
