Comparison

AppSprint vs Miro for design sprints

Miro is a general-purpose whiteboard: flexible, widely known, with design sprint templates a facilitator runs by hand. AppSprint is narrower. It guides a team step by step through a sprint, keeps ideas and votes anonymous, builds working prototypes with AI, and collects tester feedback. Choose Miro for open-ended canvas work, and AppSprint when the goal is a decision and a testable prototype.

Where Miro is the better choice

  • Your team already works in Miro and wants the sprint next to its other boards
  • You have an experienced facilitator who wants to adapt the agenda as the session goes
  • You need an open canvas for diagrams, maps and research that outlives the sprint
  • You are running a large workshop; AppSprint's calls work best with about four cameras on
  • You need integrations with other tools. AppSprint has none today

Where AppSprint is the better choice

  • Nobody on the team is a trained facilitator. The room and the optional Sprint Coach explain each step
  • You want a working prototype by the end of the session, not a board of sticky notes. See building prototypes with AI
  • You want input that is not swayed by seniority: anonymous ideas and private voting are the default, not a mode to switch on
  • You want to put the prototype in front of users right away with a feedback form
  • You have guests and clients joining. Pricing is not per seat, and teammates join from a link without an account

Using both

They are not exclusive. Some teams keep research and long-lived maps on a whiteboard, then run the decision and the prototype in AppSprint. The sprint's outputs leave AppSprint as files and links (a downloadable prototype, a session summary and, in the Full and Focused sprints, a Markdown build brief), so they can be attached to a board afterwards.

Questions and answers

Is AppSprint a Miro alternative?

Only for one job: running a product or design sprint that ends in a prototype. It is not a general whiteboard and does not try to replace Miro for diagramming, mapping or open brainstorming. See Miro alternative for design sprints.

Does Miro have a design sprint template?

Yes. Miro publishes several, including a remote design sprint template and a design sprint kit. They give you the board layout; a facilitator runs the timing, voting and hand-offs.

Can Miro build prototypes with AI?

Miro describes an AI prototype generator that produces interactive mockups on the canvas, which can be passed to a coding agent or exported for design work. AppSprint's builder returns a runnable HTML prototype that the team refines together and sends to testers.

Which is cheaper for a team of eight?

It depends on AI use. AppSprint does not charge per person; the host buys AI credits and everything else is free. Miro's paid plans are priced per member. Check AppSprint pricing and Miro's pricing page for current numbers.
