AppSprint vs FigJam for design sprints
FigJam is the online whiteboard inside Figma: an open canvas with templates, voting sessions, a timer, and audio and live chat. AppSprint is a guided sprint room. It moves a team through fixed, timed steps, keeps ideas and votes anonymous, builds working prototypes with AI and collects tester feedback. Choose FigJam when your team lives in Figma and wants a flexible board, and AppSprint when the session needs to end in a decision and a clickable prototype.

Where FigJam is the better choice
- Your designers already work in Figma. FigJam sits in the same platform as the design files, so the workshop lives next to the work that follows it
- You want a light, open board for a brainstorm, a retro or a diagram. AppSprint only runs its own sprint templates
- You want a wide choice of starting points. FigJam lists 300+ templates, while AppSprint offers five
- You have someone comfortable facilitating who wants to change the plan as the session goes. AppSprint's agenda is fixed by the template
- You need the workshop to connect to your design tool. AppSprint has no integrations today, including none with Figma
Where AppSprint is the better choice
- Nobody wants to facilitate. The room sets the order and the timing, and the optional Sprint Coach explains each step
- The goal is a working prototype, not a board. Each person describes an idea and the AI builder returns something the team can click through in the same session
- You want written ideas to be anonymous by default. Notes show no author in anyone's view, including the host's. See anonymous ideas and private voting
- You want to judge options without knowing who made them. The prototype review hides the builder and collects anonymous dots
- You want tester feedback right after the session. The Full and Focused sprints include a feedback form for each prototype
Using both
They do different jobs, so a team can keep FigJam for everyday whiteboarding and use AppSprint for the session where a decision has to be made and a prototype has to exist by the end. AppSprint's outputs are plain files and links: a runnable HTML prototype, a session summary and, in the Full and Focused sprints, a Markdown build brief and a handoff package with PNG screenshots. A designer can use those as the reference for design work in Figma. There is no direct export to Figma, so this is a manual step.
