Use case
Test a prototype with real users
To test a prototype with users, give them something they can click, a short fixed set of questions, and an easy way to answer. In AppSprint's Full and Focused sprints the last steps do this: the team edits a feedback form, invites its own testers with a link, and watches answers arrive on a live dashboard. Testers need no account and the form takes about five minutes.
Why teams skip testing
Testing usually falls off the end of a workshop. The prototype took too long, nobody owns the follow-up, and scheduling interviews feels like a project of its own.
A lighter approach works for a first round: an unmoderated test, where people try the prototype in their own time and answer a few questions. You lose the chance to ask follow-ups, but you get answers this week.
How to run a useful unmoderated test
- Keep it short. A few minutes of effort gets more replies than a long survey.
- Send people to the prototype first, then ask about what they just did.
- Mix closed and open questions. Ratings let you compare; open answers tell you why.
- Ask who the tester is, so you can weigh their answer.
- Turn answers into actions while they are fresh.
How it works in AppSprint
Reach the testing steps
User testing is part of the Full Product Sprint and the Focused Product Sprint. After Refine Together, the Choose Your Next Step page lets the team continue to testing.
Create the feedback form
Each prototype has its own form. The defaults ask how disappointed the tester would be without the product, who they are, a 1 to 5 experience rating, ease of use, what worked well and what could be improved. The team can edit it: up to 20 questions, as short answer, paragraph or multiple choice. See feedback forms.
Invite testers
The team co-edits one invitation email, and the form links are appended automatically. Copy it or open it in your mail app to send it yourself. A contact table holds up to 200 rows.
Testers try the prototype
The public tester page has a button that opens the prototype in a new tab, then the questions. No account, name or email is asked for.
Review feedback together
The dashboard updates live with the response count, per-question breakdowns, individual responses and a filter by prototype. Any answer can become an action item.
What you leave with
- Anonymous responses, broken down by question and by prototype
- Action items tied to what testers said, and your tester contacts, both exportable as CSV
- The tested prototype as an HTML file, and a session summary
When AppSprint is the wrong tool
This is a form-based, unmoderated test that collects written answers only. There is no tester recruiting, no AI analysis of the answers and no CSV export of responses. Because responses are anonymous, you cannot follow up with an individual tester through the form.
The forms belong to prototypes built in a Full or Focused sprint room; the One-Hour Sprint and Team Vibe Coding have no testing steps. The results are early signal only: the dashboard itself states that they do not establish product-market fit.
