Team Video Chat: start a call, add guided steps if needed
Team Video Chat is AppSprint's simplest template. It opens a sprint room with a built-in video call and two simple steps: a welcome and a meeting record. It is for a conversation that may become a structured session. If the talk turns into a decision that needs structure, the host can convert the room to a guided template, and convert it back afterwards.
Who it is for
Use it when you want to talk first and decide on structure later: a kickoff, a check-in with a client, or a discussion that might end with "let's prototype this". There is no timed agenda to follow.
The host needs a free account. Teammates can join from a share link as guests. See guest access and roles.
What happens in the room
Welcome
People join the call in the browser. The call has screen sharing for one presenter at a time, raise-hand, speaking indicators, noise suppression and background blur. Room-wide chat sits beside it.
Turn on a transcript if you want one
A host or co-host can start recording. The host confirms once and everyone sees a recording indicator. Only a text transcript is stored. No audio, video or screen recording is kept. Transcription uses the host's AI credits.
Meeting record
The session is kept as a meeting record in the room. AI meeting notes are written from the transcript. Notes save as a .md file and the transcript as a .txt file. Viewing a meeting record requires sign-in.
Convert to a guided session when needed
The host can convert the room to a guided template, and convert it back to a video chat later. See the One-Hour Sprint for what a short guided session looks like.
Limits worth knowing
- Calls are peer to peer and work best with about four cameras on. Video quality drops automatically at four or more callers.
- Virtual backgrounds and blur work only in Chrome and Edge.
- The Sprint Coach is not available in this template.
- Speakers in the transcript are labelled from each participant's identity, and muted microphones are not transcribed.
- There is no calendar integration. You share the room link yourself.
When to pick a different template
If you already know you want an outcome, start with a guided template. The One-Hour Sprint takes one problem to a chosen prototype in about 60 minutes. Team Vibe Coding puts the team on one shared prototype. The Focused and Full Product Sprint add private sketching and user testing.
If you need a large all-hands call or a saved video recording, a dedicated meeting tool is a better fit. For details of the call itself, see video calls and transcripts.
