One-Hour Sprint: a working prototype in about 60 minutes

The One-Hour Sprint is AppSprint's shortest guided session: about 60 minutes and 7 guided steps. The team names one problem, shares examples, and each person has the AI build a working prototype. Everyone reviews the prototypes with anonymous dots, votes privately, and the decision-maker keeps one to three. The team then improves the chosen prototype in Refine Together and ends with a session summary.

Who it is for

AppSprint describes this template as best for your first guided session or one urgent problem. Pick it when the problem is already defined and the open question is what a good answer could look like.

It is the template with the most help switched on. The Sprint Coach narrates each step and AI teammates add notes and references, both on by default here and nowhere else. The video call runs in the same window.

The seven steps

  1. Name your project (5 minutes)

The host writes a title and the problem, and can add a website. AppSprint takes one screenshot of that site as a reference for the AI. The site is not crawled.

  2. Examples and references (10 minutes)

Each person adds up to 3 links or screenshots worth learning from, then presents them. There is no vote.

  3. Prototype (20 minutes)

Each person describes what people should be able to try, and the AI builder returns a working prototype.

  4. Review prototypes (10 minutes)

Everyone places up to 3 anonymous "I like this" dots on each prototype. The order is randomised and the builder is hidden. See Prototype Review.

  5. Gallery: choose prototypes (5 minutes)

One private vote each. The vote is advisory, and the decision-maker keeps 1 to 3 prototypes.

  6. Refine Together (10 minutes)

Teammates send anonymous suggestions, and the decision-maker prompts the AI to change the chosen prototype while everyone watches. See Refine Together.

  7. Session summary

A structured record of what was decided and built, which a host or co-host can share by link.

What the team leaves with

  • One to three chosen prototypes, refined with the team's suggestions
  • A prototype download: a ZIP with a runnable single-file index.html, or a standalone HTML copy
  • A session summary link that people outside the room can open without signing in

Limits worth knowing

  • The agenda is fixed. Steps cannot be added or removed during the session.
  • Prototypes are single-file HTML with no backend. They are for trying an idea, not for shipping.
  • There is no user-testing step in this template.

When to pick a different template

If the problem is still unclear, or you want feedback from real users, use the Focused Product Sprint (about half a day) or the Full Product Sprint (about one day). Both add private sketching, a guided review discussion, a build brief (PRD) and a tester feedback form.

If the team already knows what to build, use Team Vibe Coding. If you only need to talk, start a Team Video Chat.

Questions and answers

How does AppSprint's one-hour sprint work?

A host opens a room and the team works through 7 timed steps: name the project, share examples, build a prototype each with AI, review with anonymous dots, vote privately, refine the chosen prototype together, and read the session summary. The step timers add up to 60 minutes.

Does everyone on the team need an AppSprint account?

No. The host needs a free account. Teammates can join from a share link as guests. See guest access and roles.

Who decides which prototype wins?

The team votes privately, one vote each, and counts appear after the reveal. The vote is advisory. The decision-maker, who is the host unless the host assigns someone else, confirms the choice.

What does a One-Hour Sprint cost?

The collaboration tools are free with unlimited teammates. AI work uses credits paid by the host, and new accounts get 5,000 trial credits with no card. See pricing.
